As a central part of celebrating the excellent science in KAUST, facilitated by KAUST students and postdocs from the three different Divisions, Science on the Spine presents an opportunity for the next generation of budding scientists to participate in a variety of science experiments.
This event is open to all members of the KAUST community but is mainly aimed at our younger generation, including KAUST and regional schools. Please join us for this exciting activities and participate in the experiments on display.

KAUST Open Research Week is proud to take ‘blue tech to new depths’ and host the launch of the MATE ROV Competitionin the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Competition uses remotely operated vehicles (a.k.a. underwater robots) to inspire and challenge students to learn and creatively apply science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) to solve real-world problems and strengthen their critical thinking, collaboration, entrepreneurship, and innovation.
In 2022, the competition is embracing the UN Decade of the Ocean and challenging students to tackle tasks centered on marine renewable energy, offshore aquaculture, blue carbon, ocean health, and shipwrecks in the Antarctic. Come to see the next generation of marine roboticists build ROVs and fly them at our MATE mini-challenge and find out how you can participate in or support a 2022 MATE KSA regional competition!
